Information and Communication Technology

The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department spearheads ministerial digital transformation, enterprise IT infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and digital capacity building across the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.

Mandate

• Formulating, implementing, and reviewing the ministerial ICT policy and e-governance roadmap in alignment with national digital strategies.
• Deployment, administration, and continuous maintenance of local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and cloud infrastructure.
• Management and security of official ministry email infrastructure (fedcs.gov.ng) and digital communication channels for all departments and units.
• Liaising with Galaxy Backbone, NITDA, and telecom partners for robust internet access, IP telephony, and cybersecurity safeguards.
• Preventive maintenance of ICT infrastructure, computing equipment, and enterprise hardware across all ministry facilities.
• Management and security of the National Youth Data Bank, enterprise databases, and digital youth portals.
• Provision of internet services, digital resources, and tech facilities through ministerial Knowledge Access Centres.
• Continuous capacity building and digital skills development for ministry personnel to drive administrative efficiency.
• Ensuring cybersecurity compliance, data protection standards, and institutional digital business continuity.

Functions

• Collaborating with the Press and Public Relations Department for regular technical updates of the ministry website and portals.
• Developing, deploying, and maintaining automated administrative workflows and paperless service tools.
• Providing daily IT technical helpdesk support and user assistance across all ministerial divisions.
• Overseeing enterprise software licensing, IT hardware procurement specifications, and tech consultancy management.
