The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Stratcomm Consulting, marking a significant step toward strengthening Youth empowerment and initiatives in Nigeria.
Speaking at the signing ceremony at his office in Abuja, the Honourable Minister, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, emphasized that the partnership goes beyond climate-related interventions to encompass broader development priorities, particularly in research-driven policy and strategic communication. He stressed that effective communication is critical to ensuring government initiatives achieve visibility, impact, and sustainability.
The Minister noted that the MoU represents a forward-looking collaboration designed to harness innovation, strengthen institutional capacity, and deliver measurable outcomes for young Nigerians. He highlighted the importance of data-driven decision-making in shaping responsive youth migration and development strategies.
Represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Maryam Keshinro, the Minister reaffirmed that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President, which promotes public-private partnerships and inter-ministerial collaboration as essential drivers of national development.
“The Ministry remains resolute in fostering strategic partnerships that empower Nigerian youths, promote innovation, and advance sustainable socio-economic growth. This agreement reflects the Government’s commitment to promoting youth-led initiatives, enhancing strategic communication, and deepening evidence-based engagement in youth development programmes,” the Minister stated.
The Director of the Youth Migration & Climate Action Resilience Department, Oyekan Adeoloyin, noted that the Department was established in response to growing national and global challenges surrounding youth mobility, economic migration, and environmental sustainability. According to him, Nigerian youths are not only among the most affected by climate change and migration pressures but are also critical drivers of innovative and sustainable solutions.
He emphasized that the collaboration, which includes strategic engagement with private-sector partners, is both timely and forward-looking. He highlighted that the partnership aligns with the Federal Government’s broader agenda of sustainable youth empowerment, climate responsiveness, and inclusive growth. He also stressed the need for coordinated action across ministries, sectors, and development partners to ensure effective migration governance and strengthened climate resilience.
In his remarks, Dr. Kayode Olanorin, Managing Director of Stratcomm Consulting, described the partnership as timely and strategic, particularly at a time when collaborative efforts are crucial to addressing emerging youth development challenges. He commended the Ministry’s innovative and diverse communication approach, noting that traditional and repetitive engagement methods are no longer sufficient, and that the Ministry’s creativity will sustain youth interest and participation.
