Planning, Research and Statistics

The Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) Department serves as the technical policy, research, and data think-tank of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, coordinating strategic planning, research studies, youth statistics, and monitoring and evaluation.

Mandate

• Formulation, coordination, and periodic review of the National Youth Policy (NYP) and ministerial strategic plans.
• Management and operation of the National Youth Data Bank to drive evidence-based youth interventions and policymaking.
• Conducting baseline surveys, demographic research, and sectoral impact assessments on youth development and employment in Nigeria.
• Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of capital projects, intervention programmes, and development partner initiatives.
• Collation, analysis, and publication of comprehensive youth statistics, digests, and ministerial annual reports.
• Serving as the Secretariat for the National Council on Youth Development (NCYD) and ministerial management retreats.
• Liaison with international development partners, bilateral agencies, and non-governmental organisations on youth affairs.

Functions

• Tracking programme milestones, key performance indicators (KPIs), and impact assessments across all ministry initiatives.
• Serving as the institutional memory and documentation repository for ministry policies, plans, and technical publications.
• Facilitating the preparation of the Ministry’s Rolling Plans, Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), and annual performance reports.
