FG Champions Financial Innovation to Empower Nigerian Youth

Breaking Barriers, Opening Doors

The Federal Government, under the leadership of the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, is taking bold steps to democratize access to financial opportunities for young Nigerians. At the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), led by Director-General Dr. Emomotimi Agama, the Minister emphasized that true progress comes from action and collaboration, not bureaucracy.

Creating Jobs, Not Just Seeking Them

Comrade Olawande highlighted the vision to equip Nigerian youth with tools that go beyond job-seeking. The initiative will position young people as entrepreneurs, investors, and employers of labour. By breaking the perception that the capital market is exclusive to the wealthy, the programme opens new pathways for youth participation in financial growth and nation building.

Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA): A Central Pillar

A cornerstone of this mission is the Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA), which is designed to provide inclusive access to financial education and practical skills. NIYA ensures that young Nigerians—regardless of their background or location—can acquire the knowledge and confidence to thrive in today’s economy.

Public-Private Partnerships for Youth Empowerment

The Minister underscored the vital role of collaboration between government and private sector partners, affirming that no young person should be left behind. With SEC as a key partner, the initiative demonstrates what is possible when institutions unite to create opportunities for the youth.

A Call to Action for Stakeholders

Comrade Olawande commended SEC’s leadership and called on other stakeholders to contribute to building sustainable pathways of opportunity. He reiterated that this effort is not just about policies—it is about securing the future prosperity of Nigeria by raising a generation of financially savvy, empowered youth.
