Youth Ministry and Huawei Partner to Transform Ondo State Skill Centre

The Ministry of Youth Development is embarking on a significant Public-Private Partnership with Huawei Technologies to transform a skill acquisition center in Agadagba-Obon, Ondo State. The center, recently transferred from the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, is set to become a state-of-the-art National Youth Camp and a hub for digital and ICT skills training.

The partnership with Huawei, a global leader in technology, is a key step in fulfilling the Ministry’s vision to empower young Nigerians. Discussions during the meeting focused on integrating advanced technology and renewable energy into the facility. This will ensure the center can provide modern, future-ready skills to youth, particularly those in underserved riverine and rural communities.

Focusing on Future-Ready Skills and Innovation

This collaboration aligns directly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes empowering young people. The new hub will offer training in critical fields such as:

  • Software Development
  • Cybersecurity
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Digital Entrepreneurship

Minister for Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, emphasized that combining public policy with private sector expertise is essential for creating meaningful opportunities. He reaffirmed his commitment to forging partnerships that will not only revive the facility but also transform it into a “beacon of hope and productivity.”

Huawei’s involvement brings valuable global expertise in digital innovation and infrastructure, which will be crucial in turning the Agadagba-Obon center into a launchpad for innovation and youth development across the region and the entire country.
