Ministry of Youth and Partners Launch Circular Economy Initiative

The Federal Government, in a proactive step toward youth empowerment and climate action, has launched the Circular Economy Youth Capacity Building Initiative (CEYI). This collaborative effort brings together the Ministry of Youth Development, SAMU Technology Limited, and the Recyclers Association of Nigeria (RAN).

Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, inaugurated the planning committee for the initiative, which is designed to equip young Nigerians, particularly those in the informal sector, with the skills to turn waste into valuable products. The program aims to create new jobs and foster a new generation of “green entrepreneurs” while addressing pressing environmental challenges.

The CEYI initiative is structured around two key components:

  • Waste-to-Wealth: Training youth to create marketable products from recycled waste.
  • Waste-to-Energy: Developing skills to convert waste into a source of energy.

According to the Minister, this initiative will train millions of young Nigerians, harnessing their innovation to build a greener, more sustainable future. He also emphasized the importance of multi-sector collaboration, stating, “We are proud to partner with SAMU Technology, RAN, and other key stakeholders to bring this initiative to fruition. Together, we will build a greener, more sustainable future and empower the next generation of Nigerian changemakers.”
