FG Launches NiYA Youth Ambassador Programme in Akwa Ibom

The Federal Government has taken a major step to strengthen youth participation in national development by launching the NiYA Youth Ambassador Programme in Akwa Ibom State. This initiative, unveiled during the ARISE Youth Skills Week 2025 in Uyo, aims to bridge the gap between federal youth initiatives and local communities.

According to the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, two youth ambassadors will be appointed in each local government area. Their role will be to champion key programs of the Ministry, including:

  • The Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA)
  • The Bamboo Youth Empowerment Scheme
  • Digital Literacy For All (DL4ALL)

The Minister emphasized that this program is a strategic move to ensure that youth-focused interventions reach all Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots level. He praised the Akwa Ibom State Government for its strong partnership and commended the state’s Youth Skills Pitch Challenge as a “model for other states to emulate.”

Minister Olawande also highlighted the growing importance of technology and innovation, noting that skills in artificial intelligence and digital tools are now essential across all sectors, from agriculture to entertainment. He stressed that creating platforms for young people to showcase their talents and receive support is the most impactful way to drive practical development.
